Two words… We survived!
We did it! We did it our way, and amazingly we are still smiling. It seems like only yesterday we ventured out with our L-Plates and our precious newborn daughter, all snug in her shiny new buggy.
Overnight we had gone from organised, well balanced professionals to exhausted-beyond-belief new parents. Our daughter was so wanted, so planned, so needed, but even then it didn’t prepare us for just how difficult, tiring and often frustrating getting out and about could actually be.
Early on in my first pregnancy however, my husband and I made the decision that we wouldn’t enroll our daughter in a nursery but instead adapt our working lives around her and with a little help from some amazing grandparents I was lucky enough to become almost a full time stay at home mum, which is what id always dreamed of being, whilst continuing my career. My hubby works the usual 9-5 Mon to Fri. Me? I work two 12.5 hour night shifts at the weekend. It can be tough, really tough. At times we feel like passing ships, but it works. My work makes me face situations each and every day that remind me just how precious a child is and how being a parent shouldn’t be taken for granted. It is for this reason I wanted to spend as much time with our children before they started on their big adventure that is school. We wanted them to be children no classes, no timetables, no getting up in the dark winter mornings when they didn’t have to. This would all come, too soon at that.
Our decision however meant that it was solely up to us as a family to integrate, educate and above all have fun!!
Fast forward four years and a new addition later, we have become savvy mum and dad, who know almost every short cut to every changing room, the ins and outs of every feeding room and family friendly eating places and days out in our home town of Liverpool.
Our blog is our diary, our pictures, our muses along the way and our love of being together and being out and about xxxxx
