After our recent stay in Alder Hey it made me really want to give something back.
Myself and hubby felt this last year after J was admitted to HDU. The life saving care he received was absolutely amazing and we will honestly never forget the teams of Doctors and Nurses who looked after him. So at his Baptism months later we had a collection and raised money for the unit as a small gesture of how thankful we were.
I had often thought of doing something each year and then I came across this, just by chance, and its a fabulous idea, just the kind of thing I wanted to do.
It’s toy appeal to donate toys for 0-16 year olds who will be staying in Alder Hey Hospital this Christmas. There are 12 drop off points throughout Liverpool and toys can be dropped off unwrapped (will be sorted and wrapped after collection into age, gender etc categories). The last date the toys will be collected will be Saturday 12th December.
If you don’t have any toys to donate but still wish to help you can donate via
And really, any little helps.
Until you have had a sick baby or child it probably doesn’t really cross your mind just how all consuming it can be and the level of care that they may receive when they are admitted to hospital, it affects everyone in the family day in day out. And just because it’s Christmas Day this won’t stop. The teams of Doctors will still be there, the teams of Nurses will still be there. The Cleaners. The Receptionists. Everyone. Working, functioning wise, it will be just like any other day.
And because of this, what an amazing idea to help make a remarkable Christmas for those children who this year will be staying in the land of remarkable people.
